Printer Software Repair

Unless you have a very high-end laser printer with locally available parts, most printers these days are just throw-away printers. But if the problem is just software, it should be repaired, as the software issue affecting this printer might affect the proper installation of a new printer.

Typical Printer Software Problems

Before you deem a printer itself broken and you are ready to replace it, it should be looked at by a technician. Many times it stopped working because of software and driver issues, or network connectivity, especially with WiFi printers. If the problem appears mechanical, or the quality of the printed pages, there is little that can be done with software.

  • Print Spooler errors
  • Cannot print via USB
  • Cannot print wirelessly
  • Cannot Scan (for AIO printers)
  • Missing colors in printed page
  • Streaks on printed page

Problems that "Cannot" Be Repaired Remotely

Some Printer problems may be too severe to troubleshoot remotely if any of the following conditions exist:

  • Cannot open webpage in any browser
  • Hardware issues with computer, printer or network (for Network Printers)
  • Cannot troubleshoot certain WiFi Printer issues unless you also have a working wired connection
  • Cannot Login to User Profile
  • System does not Boot to Windows Desktop in Normal or Safe Modes
  • Persistent BSODs
  • Windows is non-responsive
